Peak load capacity 2019

The peak load capacity costs for the grid service customers were 4,77 M€. The costs are charged according to the consumption of electricity during weekdays and during the day-time hours 7.00 a.m. - 9.00 p.m. The electricity consumption was 3 221 663 MWh, which is equal to the grid service winter weekday daytime consumption invoiced. The calculated peak load capacity fee is 1,480 €/MWh.

The peak load capacity was not started in December. The demand response units Suomenoja heat pump and Katri Vala heat pump were partly unavailable for the peak load arrangement. Finextra reduced the compensation paid to the Suomenoja heat pump by about 20 per cent and the Katri Vala heat pump by about 3 per cent. As defined in the  Rules of Use, the Energy Authority will make the final decisions in this issue.

February 2019

The costs are charged according to the consumption of electricity during weekdays and during the day-time hours 7.00 a.m. - 9.00 p.m. The electricity consumption was 3 228 040 MWh, which is equal to the grid service winter weekday daytime consumption invoiced. The calculated peak load capacity fee is 1,443 €/MWh.

The peak load capacity was not started in February. Katri Vala’s heat pump was partly unavailable for the peak load arrangement. Finextra reduced the compensation paid to the Katri Vala’s heat pump by about 13 per cent.
Suomenoja heat pump was partly unavailable for the peak load arrangement. Finextra reduced the compensation paid to the Suomenoja heat pump by about 27 per cent.

To ensure power plant units’ 12-hour start-up readiness, Fingrid may conduct a trial operations of the power plants once during the winter period. Fingrid arranged this in February and the start-up of Haapavesi power plant was delayed. Finextra reduced the compensation paid to the Haapavesi power plant by about one per cent. As defined in the Rules of Use, the Energy Authority will make the final decisions.

The calculated peak load capacity fee is 1,180 €/MWh.
