Most of the used electricity in Finland is transferred through the main grid. The electricity from production to consumption is transferred on public and equal terms.

The basis for main grid development are customers' future needs, promoting the functionality of the electricity markets in the Baltic Sea region, maintaining the level of system security, cost efficiency, and management of the ageing of the grid.
