EstLink 2 damage to be investigated during the end of the week
The damage to the EstLink 2 link that failed on 25.12.2024 will be further investigated in the coming days.
Further investigations at the damage site are expected to provide more information about the extent of the damages and enable more detailed planning and scheduling of the repair. The sub-sea investigations are being carried out in cooperation with the government's special assignment company Arctia Oy.
The Finnish and Estonian transmission system operators Fingrid and Elering immediately started the fault investigation work in cooperation with the authorities as soon as the disturbance occurred, and the fault was located in the submarine cable on Thursday, December 26th. The electricity transmission connection is currently out of service.
Fingrid has today submitted to the Helsinki District Court an application to seize the m/v Eagle S vessel to secure its claim for damages related to the breakdown of EstLink 2 connection.
